    Syntelligent is seeking a Principal Systems Administrator with advanced knowledge in applying in-depth sustainment support of enterprise network cyber defense capabilities to prevent sophisticated cyber threats and vulnerabilities, or detection of them when prevention fails, to support an awarded contract in Washington, D.C.
    Tasks will include:


    Responsible for strengthening the defensive posture and cyber defense operational readiness of an IT Enterprise, our Enterprise Cyber Network Defense (ECND) program defends and protects Government assets from external Cyber Security attacks and Insider Threats that can potentially cause or create data, systems, networks, and personnel vulnerabilities.


    Windows and Linux experience a must.  Experience in Fire-eye, Fidelis, Gigamon, Bro, Snort, or Suricata preferred.


    Principal Systems Administrator 


    1. Demonstrates ability to independently understand, troubleshoot, and resolve cyber security incidents involving Tier-2 monitoring and sustainment of Windows and Linux Operating Systems, vendor based Cyber Defense systems like, Fire-Eye, Fidelis, Gigamon, and custom Cyber Defense systems like Bro, Snort, and Suricata.

    2. Creating administrator and service accounts.

    3. Communicate with customers and teammates clearly, concisely, and professionally.

    4. Create functional documentation, standard operating procedures, and granular process checklists.

    5. Provide input for documentation on new or existing systems.

    6. Provide peer training, User training, and technical guidance.

    7. Participate in the upgrading of operating systems and design of systems enhancements.

    8. May interact with Users and evaluate vendor products.

    9. May develop and implement testing strategies and document results.

    10. May make recommendations to procure hardware and software, as well coordinate installation and provide backup recovery.

    11. May serve as a technical team or task leader.

    12. May program in an administrative language.

    13. Maintain knowledge of relevant and emerging CND technologies.

    14. May participate in special projects as required.


    • Windows and Linux experience a must.  Experience in Fire-eye, Fidelis, Gigamon, Bro, Snort, or Suricata preferred.

    • Can perform tasks of senior level technicians, specialists, and or managers not performed at Level 3 due to the size and/or complexity of the tasks.

    • Leadership/Management. May work individually or as a key member of a senior leadership team. Oversees and monitors performance across several disciplines, and when required, takes steps to resolve issues.
    • Guidance. Provides expert guidance and direction to Government and Vendor senior level technicians and managers. Directs multiple contractor and subcontractor teams through to project completion.
    • Training and Certifications. DoD 8570 compliance AIT Level II AND IASAE II or information assurance certification commensurate with technical objectives and services required within the task order. Applicable software or hardware training and certifications commensurate with the technical objectives, services required, and IT environment specified within the task order.
    • Capabilities and additional Requirements. In addition to Standard Characteristics of Labor Category, advocate and recommend system-level solutions to resolve security requirements. Monitors and suggests improvement to IA policy. Interact with customers, IT staff, and high-level corporate officers to define and achieve required IA objectives. Provide the Government assistance to ensure that the architecture and design of information systems are functional and secure, including program of record systems and special purpose environments with platform IT interconnectivity. Provide expert guidance and work product evaluation to one or more security engineers that support Engineering teams for the design, development, implementation, evaluation, and/or integration of secure networking, computing, and enclave environments.
    Education and Experience:
    • HS/GED + 12 years
    • Associates Degree + 10 years
    • Bachelor’s Degree + 8 years
    • Master’s Degree + 6 years
    • PhD + 4 years 
    Active TS/SCI with ability to obtain CI Poly REQUIRED
